1. Overview
OpalsGemstones (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides custom opal cutting services through this website. By sending us your stones and placing a cutting order, you agree to the terms outlined on this page. This service is provided as a hobby-based offering and not a commercial operation.
2. Product Ordering
All opal cutting services must be purchased as a product on our website. Please visit this page to place your order. Payment must be completed at checkout before sending any stones to us for cutting.
3. Fees and Payment
All cutting services must be purchased as products through our website. Two service options are available — one for non-calibrated cutting and one for calibrated cutting. Please ensure you select the correct service based on whether or not your stone requires cutting to a specific size or shape. Each stone requires its own service selection at the time of ordering.
Return postage is added during checkout. Insurance and signature on delivery are also available at that time and are strongly recommended.
If a stone is not suitable for cutting, 90% of the original service fee will be refunded, with 10% retained as an assessment fee to cover handling and inspection.
If a single rough stone results in multiple finished stones, OpalsGemstones will contact you once the assessment is complete and provide an invoice for the additional cutting charges. Work will proceed once the balance is paid.
Any unused credit will be refunded after the job is complete, via bank transfer to the original customer.
4. Shipping and Insurance
Shipping costs for sending stones to and from the cutter are the responsibility of the customer. All stones must be securely packaged. Insurance and signature on delivery are highly recommended and can be selected during checkout when placing your cutting order.
Return shipping is carried out using Australia Post Express with tracking. If insurance and/or signature on delivery are not selected, the customer assumes all risk for loss or damage during return transit.

Important: The address listed is a Parcel Locker, which means it must be delivered through a postal service and not a courier. Australian customers must use Australia Post. International customers must select a carrier that hands off to Australia Post for final delivery.
5. Packaging Instructions
Please include a note inside your package with the following details:
- Your Full Name;
- Your TikTok username (if applicable);
- Your Invoice Number from your Order and Payment;
- Your Postal Address;
- Your Phone Number including Country Code;
- The number of stones included;
- Your preferred stone shape (e.g. oval, round, teardrop, etc.); and
- Any required calibration sizes (if applicable).
Each stone should be packed separately. Upon receipt, stones will be counted and checked against your list. We will contact you if discrepancies are found before work begins.
6. Cutting Queue and Timeframes
All stones are cut in the order they are received. If you require your stones to be completed by a specific date, please contact us before sending them to ensure we can meet your timeframe.
Some stones may be cut live on TikTok. If you do not want your stones shown on social media or during live sessions, please indicate this clearly in the note included with your package.
7. Risks and Assessment
All stones are visually assessed before cutting. If major risks (fractures, sand pockets, inclusions) are identified, you will be contacted before we begin. Cutting is inherently risky, and results may vary. No guarantees are made for the final outcome.
8. Liability
We are not liable for damage, breakage, or failure of a stone during the cutting process. If a stone fails to cut and there is nothing to return, we will refund the return postage. Otherwise, all efforts will be made to achieve the best result, but no specific outcomes are promised.
9. Completion and Refunds
Finished stones will not be shipped until all charges are finalised. Any unused credit will be refunded via bank transfer. If a stone cannot be cut, or if you are owed a partial refund, this will be processed after the job is completed.
10. Acknowledgement
By placing an order and sending your opals for cutting, you confirm that you have read and agreed to these terms and conditions. If you have any concerns or do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not proceed with sending your stones.
Please note: Opal cutting carries inherent risks. Some stones may break, fracture, or reveal internal flaws that were not visible during assessment. In some cases, a stone may be rendered worthless. By proceeding, you accept that these risks are part of the cutting process, outcomes are not guaranteed, and OpalsGemstones will not be liable for any loss incurred by the customer.
11. Amendments to Terms and Conditions
We reserve the right to update or modify these Opal Cutting Terms and Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed. Continued use of our service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
